If youre buying a new home you probably have a checklist of features you expect, including granite countertops, hardwood floors and maybe tile in the bath. Increasingly, theres a new item on the list technology.

Home builders are responding by building different levels of technology into homes at every price range, from houses in subdivisions to million-dollar-plus estate homes. A subdivision house might come pre-wired for a reliable Wi-Fi Internet connection while a more elaborate system might control almost every function in a home, from the door locks and the thermostat to the shades, the lighting and more.
