Just 12 words added to the Tennessee Food Code could make dining out safer for those with food allergies. And a Murfreesboro teenager is lobbying to make that happen.
As part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project, Central Magnet School[1] junior Molly Gilliland will meet with officials on Thursday from the Tennessee Department of Health to plead her case.
"I want to lobby the Tennessee legislators to add just one phrase to the Tennessee Food Code[2] that would require annual education for food workers on prevention methods for allergic reactions and when preparing food," said Gilliland, whose food allergies emerged at age 4.
