A 20-unit townhome project with retail space will soon get underway next to the historic McGavock House on a portion of the former Ray of Hope Community Church property in East Nashville.

Rochford Reality & Construction Co. is the developer behind that infill project, which is expected to kick off redevelopment of most of the 3.07-acre property at Meridian and Cleveland streets.

"The prices will be in the upper $300,000's with lots of interest already," John Rochford, CEO of the company that bears his name, said about the townhomes.

Construction could start within 30 days with the townhomes expected to be delivered this fall, Rochford said.

Architect Smith Gee Studio is making minor revisions to the exterior elevations as requested by the Metro Historic Zoning Commission, he added.

Rochford said he already has the required permits to demolish the three single-family homes that currently sit on the site where the townhome development will be built. The McGavock House will be preserved.

The retail space, which could be used by a small coffee shop or another type of tenant, will be at the corner of Meridian and Cleveland.
