Chalk up another win for Hip Donelson, which made realtor.com's 2016 list of the nation's 20 hottest residential ZIP codes.
That neighborhood's 37214 ZIP code ranked 15th, sandwiched between San Jose, Calif.'s 95123 and Austin, Texas' 78749. Watauga, Texas' 76148 and Pleasant Hill, Calif.'s 94523 sit atop the list.
Millennials drawn by affordable prices and strong job markets are a key factor turning up the heat in those hottest markets, realtor.com said.
On average, the listing website said homes in the top 20 ZIP codes sell in just over three weeks, roughly 53 days faster than the rest of the country. And realtor.com users view homes in those markets almost four times more often than homes elsewhere nationwide.
Donelson landing on this year's list was no surprise to Realtor Sharon Kipp. The 30-year veteran of selling Nashville real estate is seeing more young Millennial couples in their early to mid-30s buying their first home or moving up to their second home in that community east of downtown Nashville.
"The people have been priced out or that can't afford a house in Sylvan Park, 12South, Waverly-Belmont, East Nashville and even Inglewood can afford something in Donelson," she said. "So they're flocking to Donelson to buy property there. Not only the people that want to buy the home and live in them, the investors have discovered us."
