SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- If you have allergies, you know the numbers are high.
However, allergy symptoms can often mock other health problems.
"I experience throat pain, which I'm experiencing right now. Sinus pressure, runny nose, like it's bad," explained Selina Balbenda.
However, she's used to these symptoms that make an appearance every year.
"I never know when it's going to hit me," said Balbenda. "Around this time, I'm like I can't, I really can't."
Allergies can mimic other illness and have signs you may know of. They can show up in ways you least expect, like a toothache.
"Nine times out of ten if they were complaining about an issue with their teeth and there's no cavity or any fracture, it's their sinuses," explained Dr. Ahmadnia, with Access Dental and Dentures Springfield.
He says during this time of year the phones tend to ring non-stop with people calling about pain.
"They think that it's a pain with their tooth, and it ends up being, they don't have an idea of which tooth it would be," said dental hygienist Kylie Bredehoeft. "They say it's the whole area, and it ends up not being from a tooth and just allergies."
