CHATTANOOGA SYMPHONY CONDUCTOR PERFORMS AT ERLANGER WEDNESDAY

Kayoko Dan, music director of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, will be making a special appearance at Erlanger, courtesy of the Arts at Erlanger committee, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Ms. Dan will be playing the flute, accompanied by Dr. Michael McCallie on the guitar.

Dr. McCallie plays classical guitar and teaches at Chattanooga State, Bright School and other sites around Chattanooga. He holds a Masters of Music in Guitar Performance from Yale University and completed his Doctor of Music degree at Florida State University.

An accomplished musician, Ms. Dan began her musical training at the age of three in Japan. After relocating to the United States, she continued her musical studies with the flute and received a Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Texas and her Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting and Masters in Music Education from Arizona State University. As a strong advocate for music education, Ms. Dan is in demand as a performer at universities, high schools, youth and regional orchestras throughout the country.
