Kendra Evans says she is excited to use her talents to help downtown Dalton grow.
“I can’t wait to see the fruits of my labor as downtown grows and more people come in and more events begin to take place,” said Evans.
Evans was chosen as the final candidate for the position of director of the Downtown Dalton Development Authority (DDDA) on Thursday.
“Overall I’m honored to have been selected,” said Evans. “I’m sure there were many good candidates for the position.”
There is a 14-day waiting period before Evans can be offered the job. She would fill the position that was vacated when Veronica Rollins, who served as director for seven years, stepped down last month to take a marketing job with Shaw Industries. The salary range for the director position is $35,000 to $40,000 a year.
Evans said she has been living in Dalton for two years and regularly attends events downtown.
“After I realized that this is the community I wanted to be a part of I chose to come here and give it my all,” she said. “Just to be able to be a part of the downtown environment in a bigger way excited me. It’s why I chose to apply.”
