THE WESTIN SHINES BLUE AND GREEN FOR NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH

April is National Donate Life Month, and the Westin Chattanooga was lit in blue and green to encourage people to register as organ and tissue donors and help the more than 114,000 people on the national waiting list nearly 3,000 of whom are in Tennessee who are waiting for a life-saving transplant. The hotel was lit Friday through Sunday at sundown.

Nationally, 20 people die each day waiting for a transplant. National Donate Life month aims to close this gap by increasing awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation and encouraging people to register as donors.

Tennesseans can register as organ and tissue donors by going to DonateLifeTN.org[1] and specifying which organs and tissues they would like to donate. Tennesseans can also register to be organ and tissue donors when applying for, renewing or updating a state drivers license or ID. After saying yes to donation at the Department of Safety, individuals can specify their gift by going to DonateLifeTN.org[2].
