Local sustainability nonprofit GreenSpaces is hosting an upcoming luncheon to show local business owners how becoming a B corporationcould help attract investors and talent to the area.

The luncheon will be Feb. 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 63 E. Main St.

B corpsare for-profit companies certified by the nonprofitBLab[1] to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

Creative interactive agencyWhiteboard[2]recently become Chattanoogas only B corporation, making it the third company in the state to meet the stringent standards.

Local attorney at Christopher Intellectual Property Law Kevin Christopher will explain how this emerging model of enterprise allows businesses to emphasize sustainability and social principles.

Attendees will also learn how they can get started in the process for free through theBImpact Assessment, a program offered by GreenSpaces, which is one of only nine organizations in the country piloting the program.
