Led by a near perfect shooting performance by junior guard Isaiah Box, the ninth-ranked Dalton State College basketball team won its 10th consecutive game on Monday, defeating Blue Mountain College 89-65.
Box led all scorers with 22 points as he was 9 of 11 from the field, included 4 of 6 from 3-point range. He also had four assists and two steals.
The Roadrunners (15-1, 7-1 Southern States Athletic Conference) trailed for just one minute of the game. Dalton State started strong and built a 17-11 lead before a 9-0 run by the Troopers gave them a 3-point lead. The Roadrunners countered with a 10-0 run of their own, including a 3-pointer each from Box and Reed Dungan. Dalton State led at the half 37-34.
Box scored the Roadrunners'' first seven points of the second half, but it was a 3-pointer by Mon'Darius Black which finally put them up for good at 48-45. That was the start of a 14-4 run which gave Dalton State a double-digit lead. From there, the Roadrunners outscored the Troopers 30-15 in the final 10 minutes.
