NO SNOW YET, BUT IT MAY BE ON THE WAY

As of 10:30 a.m., there was nary a snowflake in sight in Murray and Whitfield counties.

That could change later today.

The area will be under a winter storm warning from 1 p.m. today until 1 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Up to 3 inches of snow could fall over northwest Georgia from tonight through Saturday morning. Snow, sleet and ice will make travel treacherous.

Whitfield County Schools and Murray County Schools are closed today, while Dalton Public Schools has an early dismissal.Dalton Middle School will release students at 11 a.m. while all elementary and high schools will release students at noon.

All campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College will close at noon today due to impending severe weather. All classes, events and activities after noon have been canceled.
