Construction on the Southside's Station Street[1] limited accessibility and parking for nearby restaurants, but now that the revampedthoroughfare is open, business owners are looking forward to new traffic and customers.

"We did feel an impact when the road was shut down," Stir general manager Fletcher Thompson said. "Our parking lot, which offers free parking to guests, is at the end of Station Street. Having that accessible [now] is huge for us."

The street opened Thursday, and leaders have organized a Saturday event so that the public can experience the new area, which they've dubbed "Chattanooga's newest entertainment destination."

Station Street is open to vehicles, but it can also be closed off for pedestrians, and that's what's happening Saturday.

"We think it will have a fabulous impact," Thompson said. "It's great for Chattanooga as a whole. This whole entertainment district is blowing up."
