The Nashville area had the largest gains in advanced industry employment in the nation between 2013-15, with jobs in management, scientific and technical consulting growing at the fastest rate, according to a Brookings Institution report.
Nashville’s advanced industries jobs increased by an average annual rate of 7.9 percent, outpacing all other metropolitan areas. The number of managements, scientific and technical consultants grew 37.5 percent during the same period, overshadowing employment gains in motor vehicle and parts manufacturing.
Motor vehicle parts manufacturing jobs increased at a slower 5.9 percent, but still make up the largest group of advanced industry workers in the metropolitan area, at 17 percent. Motor vehicle manufacturing jobs were also significant at 11 percent. Management, scientific and technical consulting area comprised 14 percent of the more than 82,000 jobs.
