The Creative Discovery Museum (CDM) in Chattanooga has been around long enough to welcome a total of 5 million visitors.

And a family from Signal Mountain managed to put that visitor count over the top, and the museum says they credit their luck to recent rainy weather.

The Williams family discovered their good fortune shortly after arriving at the museum on Monday.

To celebrate the 5-millionth visitor, CDM gave the family free admission to the Museum, a year-long family membership, $50 gift certificate to the Museum, a VIP pass granting them access to more than 20 attractions in the Chattanooga area, and a voucher for a free one-night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn next to the Museum.

CDM says the Williams family had planned to visit the pool on Monday, but the threat of rain had them Googling family activities in Chattanooga, Brandy and Dale ended up back at CDM with their daughters Lindsey, 8, and Brooklyn, 2.

We first visited when Lindsey was about 2. I remember it taught her things in a fun way, said Brandy. She was learning while playing without even realizing it. Thats important to me. ...
